On Wednesday, 25 January 2023, the students of the Department of Communication Arts, Faculty of Management Sciences, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University (CMRU) who enrolled in the course on media production for the community in semester 2/2022 held the activities for media literacy at Nimitsuk Elderly School, Huai Sai Subdistrict, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province. Since students in the area found that in such a community context, most of the descendants come to study and become into the urban labor sector. Therefore, they studied for more information and consulted with Huai Sai Subdistrict Administrative Organization led by Mr. Duangdee Panchan, President of Huai Sai Subdistrict Administrative Organization. It is deemed appropriate to carry out activities with the aim of educating the elderly on how to deal with fake news and fraud methods of call center gangs. This is because most of the elderly in the community are often alone during the daytime which risks receiving information from fake news and criminals who often come in various forms. Hence, they jointly planned to organize activities demonstrating how to deal with information that has reached the elderly via mobile phones in various forms under the Huay Sai Subdistrict Media Production Project for media literacy. In this activity, Ajarn Kamolwat Sucharit, a lecturer of the Department of Communication Arts was an instructor and consultant of the project. In addition, infographics were also given to show steps to deal with fake news and call center gangs in the form of a million-dollar calendar for the elderly who participated in this activity.
This is to thoroughly distribute public relations media throughout the community, which is part of the aim for students to think and practice with real participation in the community area.
